Weekly Recap:
(Frisco, May 12, 2012) FC Dallas made a strong statement on Saturday notching eight goals led by Casey Nogueira's three goals and one assist. Nogueria got the hoops off to a strong start in the 7th minute as her low shot slipped underneath the FC Austin keepers legs. SMU Alum Leslie Briggs added a second eleven minutes later when she finished off a Michelle Young (UNT) through ball. Nogueira made no mistake about her second goal, receiving a pass from TCU & Mexican National team player Monica Alvarado at the top of the box and bending it around a helpless goalkeeper to put FC Dallas up 3-0. University of Texas standout Hannah Higgins added a fourth in the 28th minute when she collected a deflected Dayna Davenport shot and slotted inside the post for her first goal of the season. Halftime ended at 5-0 when Briggs assisted Young a few minutes later.
Nogueria continued to have her way in the second half as she collected a ball outside the eighteen, dribbled the goalkeeper, then a covering defender, then calmly placing her finish past two more defenders racing to cover the open goal, 6-0. Two time Herman award winner and former Notre Dame standout Kerri Hanks entered in the second half and immediately made an impact, laying off and spraying balls all over the park. She showed her class in the 68th minute when controlled a bullet pass from Higgins inside the box and finished with the inside of her foot to make the score 7-0. The final goal of the game saw Nogueira slip a deft pass onto the footof former Notre Dame player Rebecca Mendoza who made a great penetrating run and slotted it home to end the match at 8-0.
Two FC Dallas Youth products anchored the defense. Iowa State player Lindsay Frank was strong at center back and goalkeeper Taylor Erwin was good when she needed to be.
